'Their Name Liveth For Evermore'. The war memorial cenotaph on Primrose Hill Paeroa. The sacrifice of so many - especially young - lives in the wars of the 20th century casts a long shadow over our world which continues to this day. As the poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti said in a video commemorating his 100th birthday shown this last month "Silence is Complicity" with reference to the military, economic and discriminatory wrongs committed in this world and the fact of the persistent reticence from a 'silent majority' who themselves are largely law abiding and non violent but who say and do little to condemn the wrongs.
My goal is to present images of objects and places as naturally as possible with minimal post processing. I hope the natural qualities will come through for the viewer with a little contemplation.
@Nicou: Merci Nicou
@Ralf Kesper: Thank you Ralf.
@Libouton Martine: Thanks again LM
@Shaun: Thanks Shaun, yes, the Gallipolli Campaign is a big deal for Aus and NZ and the memery doesn't seem to fade or diminish with the years. My grandfathers were in the British Army in 14-18 but April 25 is the 'poppy day' in NZ.
